Welcome to the latest Null Newsletter! We hope you are staying cool during these blistering summer months. You’re about to be cooler after you read this email!
Athena Crisis Launches September 23rd
Null Games and Nakazawa Tech are happy to announce that Athena Crisis will see its full PC release hitting Steam on September 23! That’s right, our journey through Early Access is coming to an end and in September you’ll be able to play the full Athena Crisis campaign for the first time.
Here are some of the new features you can expect to see come September:
The full single-player story campaign, featuring over 30 maps and missions.
Brand-new units, enemies, and skills.
Even more options for user-generated puzzle maps, PVP challenges, and full campaigns.
We’d like to thank everyone in the Steam community and the Athena Crisis Discord for their feedback during development, and we hope to play some of you in PVP on launch day. If you haven’t wishlisted Athena Crisis yet, you can do so on its Steam page right now!
In addition to announcing the launch date, we also recently learned that Athena Crisis has been fully Steam Deck verified, allowing you to take AC on the go (it’s also fully playable on mobile phones). We also showed off the first preview of game-specific merch, which will be coming to a storefront sometime soon. You can check out the full monthly update here.
X Games Recap
As mentioned in the last newsletter, we took Streetdog BMX to Ventura, CA to appear at the X Games! Everyone had a great time and we loved seeing all of the kids and adults swinging by the booth to check out Streetdog BMX for the first time. Don’t take my word for it, though: we have plenty of video content documenting our trip. Check out the Yeah Us! recap here:
We also flew out YouTuber The Old Potato to the event to help show the game off, and he produced his own video here:
Last but not least, you can find our post-trip stream with The Old Potato archived on our YouTube channel.
Come Find Us At PAX West!
The journeys never end for Null: if you’re hitting Seattle to attend PAX West in late August, be sure to look out for the Null booth where we’ll be showing off more of our upcoming games, including Athena Crisis, Demon Spore, Streetdog BMX, and ChainStaff. The developer of Chainstaff, Nathan Fouts of Mommy’s Best Games, will be on hand to show off the game, and The Old Potato will also be attending to help demo Streetdog BMX to all the attendees. We’ll have plenty of giveaways as well, so be sure to swing by our booth to pick up some swag.
Etcetera
July was quite the busy month over here at Null. Personally, I’ve been working on some fun writing projects, including a reviewer’s guide for Athena Crisis and trying to flesh out the content of a wiki dedicated to the game. Game wikis are big tasks, obviously, but I find a lot of pleasure in writing long documents, so it’s been fun to sit down and get a lot of words on the page. Wikis are not so different from my previous career as a game guide author, and I’m hoping to be able to help create wikis for other games in the Null catalogue, where appropriate. I’m hoping the Athena Crisis wiki will be in a shape suitable for public consumption very soon and can’t wait to get your feedback.
We’ll see you in August! -rorie
Your Dog of the Month is Bruno! He belongs to my friend Camilla and we met at a street festival recently. He was mostly interested in his dad’s chicken kabob but I still managed to get some good pets in.
